Despite all the setbacks with the poltical controversy of human rights issues,China sure impressed me and outdid themselves. Okay at first, a guy hanging up so high by ropes and then running across the circumference of the ceiling was a little corny to me but that gigantic torch and then the unique fireworks....WOW. Sure wish I was there. They sure engineered a damn good ceremony. I believe this has something to do with their desire for face. This is probably the biggest event ever, next to the HK handover. Big theatrical bang, symbolic, and simply breathtaking.
Yao Ming and the little boy who held the China flag were so adorable together. The little boy sure has my heart with his story about surviving and saving his classmates in the recent earthquake. I want to take the little flag bearer home!!! Lin Hoa 9 yr old.
By the way, I feel sorry for those Chinese cheerleaders who were dancing and welcoming all the countries in the what had seemed like unbearable heat. And I must add, the female models, dancers, whatever china showcased to the world tonight were so beautiful. =)
Only thing I did'nt enjoy were the annoying commentators but I guess that is essential to entertainment. I honestly think that more controversy will unfold as the olympics develops. Overall, I'm excited and impressed with the beautiful ceremony.
China has a 119 plan where theyre reaching for the most medals, I wonder how that will go.
One more thing...
I saw an commercial from The Office during the olympics, someone advocated a new olympics sports proposal - Slap face. hahaha I think I would win the gold medal for this sport. Does anyone want to challenge me?
